Midnight Oil

Midnight Oil é talvez a melhor banda internacional (é australiana) cujas músicas falam sobre a realidade no país e no mundo, sendo algumas músicas-protesto.

Formada por Peter Garett, Rob Hirst, Andrew James, Jim Moginie e Martin Rotsey, essa banda começou em 1971, fazendo turnês pela Austrália, defendendo o povo local (aborígenes) e sendo muito popular entre os surfistas. Lançaram o primeiro disco (vinil) em 1978. O grupo fez mais sucesso no ano de 1987, com o lançamento do álbum Diesel and Dust, com as músicas "Beds are Burning" e "The Dead Heart". Mais tarde em 1990, foi lançado o álbum Blue Sky Mining, com destaque para as músicas "Blue Sky Mine" e "My Country". A banda durou até 2002, quando lançou seu último álbum, Capricornia. O conjunto também lançou coletâneas em 2006 (Flat Chat) e em 2008 (Diesel and Dust Special Ed.).
